Another post advocating for “Projects not tutorials” had a big sentiment around not knowing what projects to build.
So here’s a list I compiled awhile ago to share with more junior engineers at work. I generally advise to build out the primary idea and not worry about “productionizing” it with things like authentication, ci, etc. In service of building our lots of feature apps quickly. These are things you can build with a free afternoon, for the most part.

2020.06.08 15:25 Klokstar Names and the "special treatment" debate

We commonly have straight/cis people who claim that members of the LGBTQ... community get "special" treatment when all we want is "equal" treatment. However, there is a case where there is a valid argument and it deals with transgender deadnames: Facially neutral laws/policies that require use of one's legal name, or the disclosure of a former name, which disparately impact the trans community*. For example, I have seen cases of schools that require that one's legal name be read at graduation regardless of whether and why they prefer to go by a different name (including people who go by nicknames, etc.) who are challenging the policies. There are also cases like background checks that frequently call for the disclosure of former names.
On one hand if the rule/policy is reason-neutral and not created as a backdoor way to discriminate against the trans community there is the argument that trans deadnames should be treated exactly like a cis person who goes by a different name or has changed their name with no more and no less flexibility.
On the other hand there is the argument that because of what a trans name change communicates (having changed gender and/or sex assigned at birth)** that there should be additional privacy considerations, particularly in cases where one's transition is otherwise irrelevant and/or disclosure of the deadname would likely make the transperson susceptible to discrimination and/or harassment.
What's your opinion? Personally I think that while there should not be a total ablation of a trans person's deadname in these circumstances, there should be a "heightened scrutiny" evaluating the necessity of using/disclosing the deadname. For example, IMDb last year changed their policy to allow the removal of trans people's birth names in the biography section if they were never credited under it, but if they do have credits under their old name it remains for identification purposes. When the deadname is needed for a purpose like a background check being done by a third party, I think there should be a means to provide the name directly to the investigator (without exposing it to the party asking for the check) and not disclosed back on the report unless needed to identify an actual record (I believe the UK has a system like that in place).
*If a trans person is required to use their legal name when cis people are not, or their old name is mentioned/asked when not done to cis people who've changed their names, then that is unequivocally discriminatory and is not within the subject of this post.
**This is in contrast to a name change from marriage or divorce (for example) where a previous last name itself doesn't give anything away about one's marital status.

Conclusion :

So far, the movie has predicted:

2020.04.06 10:14 kodijo Che ne pensate del film "The Platform" (2019) aka "Il Buco", disponibile su Netflix? A me è piaciuto parecchio

Gran gran bel film a mio parere!

2020.03.30 10:37 Albertius888 Come Perdere Tempo

Okay, seriamente. Come ne usciresti? Dopo tutto, perché no? 4 Compila delle liste. Chi vogliamo prendere in giro? È utilissimo! Ripesca vecchi ricordi. Riesci a ricordalo? Meglio di no). Perché… perché no? Leggi questo articolo da cima a fondo. Congratulazioni! Sei arrivato alla fine di questo articolo! Hai già perso 20 minuti buoni provando a perdere tempo! Poi mettilo in pratica. Meglio farlo fuori.

2020.03.10 21:28 mrbigtone SERIES REWATCH: S1E2 "Chapter 2"

Chapter 2
The second episode picks up with Kenny hiding the Panty Dropper at the lake & telling Cassie that he was ambushed by a Pakistani who then rode off with it. Dustin struggles to understand how someone can get highjacked on a lake while Kenny has started training again for the Majors with Wayne & Dustin Jr., much the humor of Dustin & his wife.
After a less than inspiring pitch in which Kenny explains how the plague was developed, Kenny & Dustin Jr. (Kenny has shown favoritism to Dustin Jr. but I wonder if Wayne is left out for reading Kenny's pitch speed?) go out for ice cream and while listening to his audiobook Kenny is inspired, seeing a dancing orangutan and heads into Ashley Schaeffer BMW pitching a personal appearance at the dealership. After a stiff negotiation, Kenny lands the gig for $200 cash.
Back at his real job at Jefferson Davis Middle School, the sign out front reads "He That is Down Needs Fear No Fall", an apt quote for Kenny at this point in the series. Kenny rolls up listening to Kelis and takes a toot of cocaine in the parking lot while Stevie admires him. During lunch Kenny finds out that he's supposed to be chaperoning a dance for Phillip the same night that he's supposed to do his personal appearance at Ashley Schaeffer BMW. Kenny thinks that April is asking him to the dance and tells her that he's hosting a celebrity event. Kenny proceeds to slam dunk his tray into the garbage.
Kenny asks Dustin, while he's taking a shit, to be his driver for the night and when he refuses he takes the toilet paper and makes Dustin "turtle walk his ass outta here". Kenny instead gets Clegg to drive him to Schaeffer BMW & Kenny thinks that his luck is starting to turn. Ashley imposes his power over Kenny by putting a finger in his face and forcing Kenny to wear a yellow Ashley Schaeffer BMW polo. When a fan asks him to throw him a pitch Kenny shuts him down on an account of his fingers being greasy from the egg rolls but Ashley once again imposes himself and demands that Kenny throw a pitch. As Kenny sets up to pitch, he has a Tony Soprano like mini panic attack, and refuses to throw the pitch. Ashley tells everybody that shows up that Kenny is scared to throw the pitch and he won't get paid unless he does. Kenny holds true to himself, takes off his polo, & tracks down Clegg who was huffing paint with some dudes in a parking lot. After his latest embarassment at the dealership, Kenny asks Clegg for some ecstasy & shows up to Phillip's dance.
For the second time in the series, we see Kenny being honest after taking some drugs. He spills his heart to April, telling her that the only image that makes him happy no matter what is her big tits. "This is about real emotions. This is about me loving you for real. Not in a just to make me cum kinda way. In a real way." April doesn't buy it and Kenny decides to dance for her in one of the shows classic scenes.
After puking on the dance floor from the egg rolls and not the ecstasy, Kenny has to walk home because Clegg took his truck. Stevie is there to give Kenny a ride home and Kenny delivers an impassioned speech about what used to be. For the first time in the series, despite a few interactions already, Kenny finally recognizes Stevie Janowski & asks him if they can go to Ashley Schaeffer BMW as he picks up a cinderblock. Stevie's role in Kenny's life is laid out in what he says next, "Anything you want Kenny Powers, anything at all." Chapter 1 ended with Kenny jetskiing away by himself, Chapter 2 ends with Kenny & Stevie driving away together, Don Quixote finding Sancho Panza.
TL;DR: Kenny lands a personal appearance & it doesn't go as planned. He confesses his love to April & dances. Stevie finally gets into Kenny's life.

2020.02.09 15:36 LadyTesla [Personal] Dear Neutrogena

Dear Neutrogena,
(Or the poor PR intern that you’ve paid to check this subreddit, whose name I’ll call ... Jeremy. Sup Jeremy!)
Hi, it’s me, Miss Millennial.
First, I’d like to formerly apologize for killing McDonald’s (the happy meal toys shrank like a wool sweater in the wash), the doorbell industry (texting ‘here’ really just minimizes the human interaction required), real estate (Watching people flip tiny homes on HGTV while at the gym really is just satisfactory enough as owning a home), and malls in general (just too many inter-dimensional monsters killing step brothers who are trying to bang hot married moms for my taste, but that’s just me).
(However I will not apologize for killing Applebees, those bastards *know* what they did to those green beans in 2011 incident, and it was a bean too far).
I’m here to plead a case with you, and one that I think will save you money and gain you loyalty from consumers. So, let’s start at the top, Jer Bear (can I call you Jer?):

Why should we listen to you, random internet poster?

You see, I’m a thirty year old white woman manager whose generation is drowning in student debt at roughly the same alarming rate as Leo hopping off that door (which had plenty of room, for the permanent record) singing that our hearts will indeed go on. That means two critical pieces of information for you, reader:
UNO: I am aging.
That’s right, time is indeed a flat circle, unlike our planet.
This means that I am slowly unable to find an easily identifying character in major soap operas, romances, movies, and most importantly urban paranormal novels with the cover containing a woman in a black tank top, a weapon, and some magical swirls (typically blue or purple). This is NOT ok. As a result, I have a sudden interest in making my skin bounce back with the bubbly energy of the title green blob from the 1997 family comedy Flubber(starring Robin Williams, may he Rest In Peace and laughter) available on VHS, but not blue ray. My desperate need to make this a reality is only second to my need to see if Henry Cavil can chop root vegetables with the edge of his chiseled jawline (along his sharp and versatile acting skills, because I for one will not reduce an esteemed, talented actor to a object, as he is more than just a hot hot hot... hot object).
Ergo, I really, really want great, bountiful skin. I want skin that glows so much, it starts wrestling with Allison Brie. I want to feel I am cool, trendy, and it is not me but the children that are wrong. However, through intense pre, post, and regular calculus, I have determined through both LaPlace and Fourier transforms that there is only one thing that will solve my skin problem. This brings me to my next point.
DOS: I gots cash money now.
As a member of the millennial party (not to be confused with the murder party, which is just a group of crows with glittery, festive party hats on while holding knives in their beaks- as peace was never an option), I am of that age where money has grown at enough of a rate that I can spend it on things. Now mind you, those things must be under $100 as I will not Scrooge McDuck-ing into piles of money (and I also don’t have the skull thickness of a diamond, which is what I assume that cartoon duck has). That means I have enough money to pay for *some* disposable items, but not a LOT of disposable items. That means I will prioritize my hard earned cash on one thing, Jeremy.
 $$$$$$\ $$\ $$\ $$$$$$\ $$\ $$\ $$$$$$\ $$$$$$\ $$$$$$$\ $$$$$$$$\ $$ __$$\ $$ $$ \_$$ _$$$\ $$ $$ __$$\ $$ __$$\ $$ __$$\ $$ _____ $$ / \__$$ $$ / $$ $$$$\ $$ $$ / \__$$ / $$ $$ $$ $$ \$$$$$$\ $$$$$ / $$ $$ $$\$$ $$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$ $$$$$\ \____$$\ $$ $$< $$ $$ \$$$$ $$ $$ __$$ $$ __$$< $$ __ $$\ $$ $$ \$$\ $$ $$ \$$$ $$ $$\ $$ $$ $$ $$ $$ \$$$$$$ $$ \$$\ $$$$$$\ $$ \$$ \$$$$$$ $$ $$ $$ $$ $$$$$$$$\ \______/ \__ \__\______\__ \__ \______/ \__ \__\__ \__\________
Let me tell you how influenced I am by my need to have good skin.
On my team I have a coworker who is so fresh out of college. And he is hip-and-happening, and knows the latest trends. As in, he went to Lakewood church to see Kanye and reported to us that it “slapped”. The music, slapped him, Jeremy. He can talk about new restaurants and the spices on the dishes like a man bun foodie blogger in 2007. I once handed something to him and he replied “you da best music”. That’s right, I the junior manager of the office, am the highest quality sound! Let’s give him a name that easily represents all 22 year olds like him in this American generation.
Let’s go with... Carl. Yeah, Carl isn’t a name that makes you think of a old man in a wife beater complaining about HOAs, no Carl is god damn HIP.
Have I lost you PR intern Jeremy, yet? Good, here’s the scene with Carl. It’s me. Looking frazzled. On a Wednesday morning after snorting some flonase, starting a meeting and Carl, yes hip Carl, just quietly mentions that I have “such good skin”. I gasped, clutching my pearls I got from Tar-Jay. And he asked me the holiest of questions, “what is your routine?”.
At that moment the power that infused into my bones from the compliment was a wave I rode on for a good three days. I rode my well maintained 2018 Prius C like the majestic steed it was to my house to make a celebratory splurge of Etsy purchases that I not only don’t regret, but EARNED. I took seventeen selfies. My google assistant was able to make a machine learning model without having to oversample, that’s how many photos of my face I took that day (That’s right, I’m making STATSTICS JOKES on a skin care forum long post. Crush that and put it on your chili because it is spicy!.).
At this point in the story, you’re getting the idea, that I want to and am willing to spend a crazy amount of money to reinvent this moment. I want it, I taste it on the tip of my tongue. Not only that, I am INFLUENCING THE FUTURE GENERATIONwho is braver and smarter than us, who don’t need no social constructs called gender. They need guidance from their not-so-old-elders to tell them. And you know what I told Carl, slyly?
Jeremy Bearimy, I airily spoke on my apparently not so ordinarily hydrotherapy for my momentarily unnecessarily skin therapy and did so coherently:
“Oh, I use hydro boost”.
(hair toss)

Hydro Boost is the Bomb Diggity!

That’s right, I, like my sisters and misters and gender fluids (not gases or solids) of my family, absolutely love, LOVE, hydro boost. I want to bathe in it’s shiny blue goop in a footed bath tub and serve French vanilla sci fi fantasy, like I’m an android that can predict through my mental powers who will have the next pop hit (spoiler: it’s Lizzo, that Shipley’s goddess). I answer the curly corded phone and solve alien mysteries and crime with the silky smoothness of a Gillian Anderson, and with a glass of red wine in my hand. I will arise from my baby blue pool and sing “il dolce sunoco” for Mel Gibson.
I love this stuff so much. I have bought its variations in so many forms. You name it, masks, lotions, balms, I shower in it as the goop slowly seeps out of my shower head. I have replaced my husband (that handsome devil) with a glued together collection of used bottles of hydro boost. I love it I love it I love it.

Okay, is that why you're writing this giant goof?

Nay, Jeremy, NAY I SAY. It is not. I know, I know, I know, you were hooked in my pop culture references Jer, but please stay with me I need you to hear what I have to say next, because I supremely hope that you will help make this happen. Jer, this is on you, I know, you’re nervous, and your palms are sweaty, and - Wait no, I won’t get distracted, this is important.
Ok, phew. Here it is.

I'M BREAKING UP WITH YOU.

Now listen, listen! It's for one reason, and one reason only: Your Packaging.
I’m sorry, but the hydro boost packaging sucks. It just does. Does it look cool ? Well, what does cool mean to you? To me, it looks cool in the way that the flames I panted on my childhood bike looks super dope, but it wasn’t valuable. The way there is SO MUCH empty space filled with plastic that makes it look like it's aalien experiment floating in a giant test tube? I’m sorry, but I have to hate it. And here’s why:

You're Helping Kill My Planet

I tried to think of ways to be funny and sneak into this with some business reasons why you should do this, but I’ll get to the point. You use too much plastic, and I can't stand it.
Toothpaste tubes take 500 years to biodegrade (source). That means that every single tube of toothpaste I have ever used since birth is still in it’s same form I bought it as, and any plastic toothbrushes. Your plastic containers not only are about twice the density of that plastic (making it harder to biodegrade) it contains significantly less product, and it comes in a plastic propped up packaging so that it “sits” in the window better. And, plastic is not as recyclable as other materials. Only 9% of plastics is recycled (source).
I know, Jer, I’m being a Debbie Downer, a Negative Nancy, and Tom Clancy all in one, but I don’t think people feel the urgency of this. Imagine if every plastic fork you ever used some how popped up in front of your house one morning by your a-hole neighbor who still hasn’t returned your jigsaw? That’s what we’re doing to our ocean neighbors. You know Frank the fish doesn’t want your stinkin’ forks! He’s shaking his fish fin fist at you, Jeremy.
Listen, America doesn’t recycle typically. And those who do, are majority women (source). What? Really? Once again it's women's job? We are really cleaning someone else’s mess! And, plastic can only be recycled to a point (more info). That means it’s only getting worse every time. It’s like trying to reread Twilight. It was so good when you were a preteen, and people just want something to make fun of, why is it suddenly a grooming nightmare? Nah nah, it can’t be this bad, but come on maybe you’ll remember why it’s not that bad on the next read - oh my god - oh no. Oh no no no no.
You’re probably thinking, “oh come on, it’s not that bad”. Guess what, IT’S THAT BAD. So here’s what’s happening. I’m leaving you Hydro Boost. That’s right, a break up. No, not that bad movie of shoving two really hot actors together that really don’t make sense! No the other one - no the ones from - oh forget it.
Neutrogena, it’s becoming more common than you think. I can link Forbes and Business Insider articles to you about how the next generation isn’t taking no for an answer, and how they really really want sustainable choices. I can show you the websites Zero Waste Nerd, or Zero Waste Home, or even Zero Waste Cartel(which I am frankly, really afraid of!). I have people who I’m interviewing for my company ask me what our carbon footprint is! People want sustainable, and so do I.
I’m sorry, Jer, but... it may be time to part.

Well what would fix this? Don't leave me with your money!

Hell yes, let's fix this relationship! And you know what Neutrogena, you already have some zero waste great options! Your bar cleanser is a great plastic free choice! You should highlight that, and make more stuff better. How??
I am So Glad You Asked. I have already figured out some easy and POTENTIALLY CHEAPER choices for your packaging! That’s right not only am I pointing out the problem, I am giving you solutions! Crazy! It’s like these solutions have been around for a while! Whoa! What a concept!

Glass

Oh, ah, so chic, so French, so... glass. It gives you that sensual Monique Heart sensation. Glass, so fancy. Glass is basically infinitely recyclable, and it is cheap to make, and oh so easy to find. Don’t believe me? Put some burlap near some glass jars and wait for the Pinterest brides to come out of the forest like shy, 23 year old deers with all the exact same low curly bun with extensions. It’s so beautiful, nature.
But glass is also really easy to find, and remake, and you can make it all sorts of colors and sizes. You can make it space age blue, and we’d eat it up. You can make it tiny and charge the $20 at my local Kroger, and I’d buy it because bitch I’m French Fancy! Baguettes! Buy that Oui dairy free yogurt because I’m lactose intolerant and feeling fine!

Aluminum

It’s cheap, and it is SCI-FI SEXY. It’s like you’re stuck in an alternative universe as a hot sexy neon android. Oh, ah, Tron! That’s right, metal jars (like your hair spray) is pretty darn cool looking. It’s futuristic, and it’s really recyclable! And there are already manufactures using this material in the skincare space (say whaaaaat?). That’s right, it’s cheap and the infrastructure is there Jer!
Send me to mars in this jar of SuperStar Avatar!(Okay, listen, not all rhymes work but Avatar kind of works, since they’re blue and stuff. I also went on a date with my current partner there so just let me have this, Jeremy, okay??)

Bamboo

Jer, do you like... zen? Spas? Green, Earth? Do you want me to spend $57 for a oil that I only found at this salon and spa where there are like 18 fountains? Because wood and bamboo will make me spend $57. I want that zen. I want that peace and expensive AF hot stone treatment now injected into my eyeballs every time I look at Twitter Dot Com, man.
So give me coconut bowls and bamboo lids. Bamboo is the fastest growing wood, and it looks so zen, so cool, so hip. You can line the inside with a film to keep it kosher, and I can reuse the bowls to make my spa in my suburban home, drowning in my dog hair. Ah, peace.

DON’T YOU DARE GREEN WASH ME

Greenwashing. Do you know how many brands I’ve looked at that “pretend” they’re going zero waste and low plastic? A LOT. Don’t put a green color on it and call it “natural” and chemical free. Water, is a chemical y’all. And I want those chemicals. I love and love them. But, don’t try to put a label with a cactuson it and say you “fixed it”. Pfft.

We get the point, lady.

First off, I’m not married to a lord so I ain’t nah lady. Second, I see you get the point. I’m glad. But here’s the gist:
Fix your packaging. Until then, I’m out.
I love your product. I hate it’s container. It hurts my planet, and it’s hurting me to toss this giant jar, with a little tiny made for ants inside out every month. And I’m willing, nay desperate to pay top dollar for this stuff. I love it. But my ethics can’t handle it.
Until then, I’m searching etsy and the series of tubes called the internet to make sure I get this right. I will no longer live a life where I can’t say I did my hardest to make my campsite better than it was when I left it. I want Carl to be able to see trees without my toothpaste tubes and plastic forks floating around. I think we think someone else will “save” us and the planet. That some person will put in the sweat and work. Well, I hate to say it but no. No, no one is coming. It’s just us.
So Jeremy, it’s been a ride, but I’m out. Call me when you change. Then I’ll be listening, and just as you have been listening so far. Thank you, for the time, and for trying so far. But if you want to grow with me and our future, you need to change. I’m changing, and it’s not enough for only one of us to do so. Oh, and Jer?
Your fly is undone.
Cheers.
P.S. Want to know where I’m looking for sustainable alternatives? Here is the master list I'm using (not made by me).

2020.02.07 00:46 lowkeyterrible me_irlgbt survey results! really long post! this took me 6 days! exclamation mark!

Long post. REALLY long post. buckle in.

TLDR at the end

First off, thanks to everybody who responded! There were 467 responses in total, which is amazing. I know filling out surveys online can be boring, so I really appreciate you all indulging me for this.
A few notes before we get started!
Now. Let's get started with the results.

Total survey responses: 467

DEMOGRAPHICS SECTION

AGE: 460 responses

https://imgur.com/thGOvqi
As we can see here, the majority of respondents are between the ages of 13-24, with most being 18-24. No surprise, this pretty much tracks with the general demographics of reddit. We have 3 tiny kiddos who responded, bless them. One person over 60, heyhowareyougorge. It’s interesting to cross-reference the age demographics with the type of posts we see here. I’m in my early 20s, which in gay years is like being in your early 40s, and i’ve been out for years. I see a lot of closet or coming out type posts, which I personally don’t relate to as much any more, but that totally tracks with the amount of youngins we have here. If you’re looking to karma whore, here’s the data you need.

COUNTRY: 457 responses

https://imgur.com/xwAb3g8
So, clearly very US-heavy. Again, not a surprise here for a US-based website. I would like to confess to purposefully splitting up the UK demographics out of sheer curiosity too; I’m Scottish and wanted to know how many fellow Scots I had. Happenin troops.
I also wanted to use this to see how many people were from countries with less legal protections for being LGBT. The countries in here I’d particularly like to highlight are:
Dominica, where it is illegal to be gay. Penalties include a 10 year prison sentence, or “incarceration in a psychiatric institution.” Absolutely no legal protections for any LGBT people. That’s pretty fucked.
India has no legally recognised same sex unions, no same sex marriage, no adoption, but all of these things have been proposed. some anti-discrimination laws. They have a third gender option, called hijra. Trans people do have some legal recognition of gender, which is nice. As far as I’m aware, this situation is pretty unique to India.
Qatar, where same-sex sexual activity is punished by fines, imprisonment, or the death penalty. Obviously no legal protections.
Russia, where same-sex sexual activity is technically legal, but in Chechnya, it is heavily punished. Gay people are abducted and sent to concentration camps in this region. Russia has done little to prevent this.
Singapore, where there is technically punishment of up to 2 years in prison for male same-sex sexual activity, but this is apparently not enforced any more. F/F is legal though.
Malaysia, where it remains illegal to be gay. Punishments can be up to 20 years in prison, fines, or whippings, just for engaging in same-sex sexual activity. However, a 2016 court ruling did recognise gender changes as a fundamental constitutional right, according to wikipedia.
I’d like us to take a moment to remember, especially if you’re from the US, that the fight for LGBT rights is far from over. It’s not some distant thing. Even people on this good gay subreddit could face severe punishments for their identity. If you are in a country with legal protections, take a moment to be thankful. If you can, please educate yourself on the state of LGBT rights in these countries, and see if you can do anything to help.

ETHNICITY: 463 responses

https://imgur.com/hk6KINj
Again, not particularly surprising results here. Reddit is a pretty overwhelmingly white website. I’m a full blown white person so I’m not sure how much I can really say here without verging out of my own lane. I do think we should keep this in mind however, because as a largely white subreddit we may not have so many people calling out racism when they see it. I don’t want POC to feel ignored here just because they make up a smaller percentage of our demographics, so I welcome any POC responses here as to how we’re doing with that. I personally haven’t seen too much racism, as the bigotry we tend to get is centred around our lgbt identities. Whenever I see it it tends to be anti-black, and usually confined to usernames. I do try to ban that whenever I see it, but I’m only one person, so I do rely on you to report things to me!

GENDER: 467 responses

https://imgur.com/GOMLltE
https://imgur.com/BY9eRfU
Now, this is the one I’ve had to go in and fuck with. This, and all the other charts, are basically just the raw data in visual form. The chart above is each individual response, allowing for those who selected multiple options. So, rather than counting every time someone selected “male”, then “nonbinary”, etc, it’s counting every time a person selected “male + cisgender,” “nonbinary + queer”, if that makes sense.
This chart here is the one I’ve fucked with, that just has the amount of times an option was selected.
https://imgur.com/ejdAKm9
I basically simplified the data here. Whenever someone said something like unsure, unknown, etc, this was put under “questioning”. The “other” responses are the only ones that received significant editing. These were long-form responses that could not be parsed into simple answers, so here they are in their entirety.
  • “Something like that lol”
  • “I don’t have one of these ‘gender identities’ everyone keeps talking about”
  • “Lol i’m absolutely fucked and i have no idea”
  • “What is this ‘gender’ you speak of”
  • “My sex is female”
Now, I could probably have parsed them into other categories, but honestly I thought this was more entertaining.
Some important things to remember when reading this data! * I collected it pretty poorly. I wasn’t aware of how google would collate it and i done goofed a bit. Take it with a pinch of salt. * once i “simplified” the data to look at how many times each option was selected, I ended up with almost 800 pieces of data. You’ll recall that only 467 people responded to the survey, so there is significant overlap. This is why I'm showing you two versions. The crossover is not fully clear, and there’s probably ways I could process this data better, but i’m gonna be real with y'all it’s a lot to wade through and I'm honestly just bad at this * This question allowed people to choose as many or as few labels as they wanted. Some people listed their gender as just “transgender” with no other qualifiers, for example. Therefore this data should be treated as only a partial picture of the gender demographics of this subreddit

PRONOUNS: 464 responses

https://imgur.com/lsP8661
Again, I arguably messed up on the collection of results here, BUT, I do think it’s very interesting to see the combinations of pronouns people use. For example, I think it’s cool to see that, among those who use they/them pronouns
  • 25 respondents use they/them as their only pronouns
  • 31 use he/him and they/them
  • 30 use she/her and they/them
Now obviously it’s gonna be difficult to argue for these results to be generalised to the population at large, but this does support what I’ve seen anecdotally for a while; neutral pronouns are often used alongside non-neutral pronouns. We might not have seen this if I had been a better researcher.
Here is the version with my own editing, simplification, and parsing of “other” results:
https://imgur.com/6sR4w3U
Other results are as follows, presented without comment
  • ”A variety of neopronouns”
  • ”Whatever is right in the moment”
  • ”in the closet for everyone except online friends”
  • ”any pronouns”
  • ”well i would use those pronouns if i was out or if anyone respected them lmao help me”
  • ”any/all”
  • ”the normal ones”
  • ”All? IDK it’s been a very confusing time”
  • ”he/him among general public, they/them among close friends but out in public, would like to use she/her but only when out and fully transitioned”
  • ”I don't know what this means”
Among neopronoun usage, we have specific examples of: * ve/ver * it/its
If we put this alongside the “other” responses that indicate neopronoun usage, we can say that 5 of our respondents use, or are comfortable using, neopronouns.
I think this is an interesting point to highlight, because common transphobe rhetoric is that people are using a “confusing” variety of pronouns. We have a generally trans-friendly sub (at least I hope so), and out of 464 respondents to this question, only 5 people indicated neopronoun usage. Could it be that this line of thinking, that people are using confusing newfangled pronouns, is just an uninformed scream from the ignorant?

SEXUALITY: 467 responses

https://imgur.com/CXVxEKc
Again, raw data. For this one I don’t feel it’s super necessary to go in and parse out who picked multiple things, because the data here seems kinda straightforward, if you’ll pardon the pun.
We have a lot of bi and pan people here. Again, it’s difficult to argue for the generalisation of these results, but this does support evidence of bisexual people making up the majority of the LGBT community. If we compare this to the by now well known findings from the Kinsey institute, this does support the belief that most people are likely neither a Kinsey 1 or a Kinsey 6, but somewhere in the middle. It’s not directly comparable because I didn’t use the same metrics, but it’s interesting to think about.
I also think it’s interesting to see so many straight respondents. Of course, this could just be trans people who are straight, but I know from the comments I’ve received that some people who responded are totally non-LGBT, just allies.
Also, shoutouts to “an absolute mess” and “just desperate for love”. Same, babes.

EDUCATION: 461 responses

There were enough “other” responses that I felt like I needed to go in and take those out, so here’s the raw data before I did that.
https://imgur.com/eguYGeK
And here is the simplified version
https://imgur.com/DZClNVV
Here are the “Other” responses
  • have not completed high forms of education
  • IDK not american
  • still studying
  • middle school (x4)
  • wasn't allowed to go to school by parents, currently studying for high school entrance exam
  • TAFE Diploma
  • 2nd year degree
  • gray
  • in 5th year of phd but no master's earned on the way
  • professional degree (Juris Doctor)
  • certificate of achievement, 1yr college
  • What’s a diploma
My favourite response is “IDK not american”. As we all know, education only exists in America.
Anyway, this pretty much tracks along the age demographics. With a population mostly aged between 13-24, it makes sense that the majority are high school or college educated.
Of course, it should be kept in mind that not everybody’s education is a linear or traditional experience, and won’t completely track with our age demographics.
Shoutouts to the 3-4 people with PhDs tho, mad respect.
And that wraps up our demographics section! Onto some of the cool shit.

PERSONAL LIFE SECTION

POLITICAL ALIGNMENT: 477/467

https://imgur.com/TUQNBVJ
Here’s the raw data. As you can see, there’s a lot of write-in responses. If you’ve spent any time hanging out on this subreddit, I don’t think it’s any shock to see how overwhelmingly left-leaning we are. I think this sort of goes with the territory of being an LGBT subreddit though, we do tend to develop liberal politics as an attempt to avoid homophobia and transphobia, and then from there it’s easy to fall into leftist politics, especially on places like Reddit.
Simplified data: https://imgur.com/isja5Kc
Other responses:
  • Don’t have these words in AUS
  • I have a hard time understanding all the different words, but I know I’m the opposite of Donald Trump
  • LibCenter
  • anarcho-communist
  • social libertarian
  • Hard to say since these terms mean slightly different things in different places/political climates
  • Whoever isn't a racist bigot
  • slutty sjw whos ready to bust a fat nut and shoot capitalists
  • angry *Governmental axis: libertarian. Economic axis: centrist. Social axis: progressive
  • I don't have a strict political alignment, I just think that every politician can have good ideas whatever their alignment is
  • I vote based on the current goals of each party
  • regulated markets, welfare capitalism, taco trucks on every corner. thank you for coming to my ted talk.
  • Whatever is Civil Rights
  • leftish antiauthoritarian
  • no one changes anything but rich mens pocket books
  • Progressive
  • Green
  • Prefer not to say
  • Independent
We’re clearly a very left-leaning subreddit here. I think it’s interesting that out of a total of 447 responses, only 9 disclosed that they were on the right-hand side of the political spectrum. Is this because only 4% of people round these parts are on the right, or is due to an unwillingness to identify with conservative politics, even on an anonymous survey? Difficult to know for sure. Interesting data tho amirite.
Also whoever answered “slutty sjw whos ready to bust a fat nut”, same girl

RELIGION 460/467

Raw data: https://imgur.com/oQQWZH9
Again, a fuckfest here, but even before we go in and parse things out we can see that 336/460 indicate atheist or agnostic beliefs. This sort of goes along with my hypothesis/unscientific belief that a majority of LGBT people are non-religious, or will find religion themselves later on. I personally would love to do research on the prevalence of found religion in later life, especially pagan/wiccan type beliefs, in LGBT people. I think a lot of us do really desire that sort of connection to spirituality, but can’t always get it from the religions we were raised in. This is from my perspective as a western white person raised around christian/catholic beliefs; I know there’s differences with, for example, Judaism, where it’s fully baked into the culture to question and argue with your own beliefs, so I know there’s a hell of a lot of cultural bias going into this assumption.
Simplified data
https://imgur.com/FimSsoh
I’ve kept Atheist/agnostic as separate categories, grouped the different Satanism responses, and again created an “other” category.
Other responses:
  • Both Christian and agnostic

  • idk man. dudeism?
  • Its a mix
  • Meh
  • None (not explicitly atheist or agnostic, just...ehhhhh)
  • Unitarian Universalist
  • Science Christian
Given that this is Reddit, I’m not surprised by the high amount of atheist/agnostic responses, given that the site still has a strong legacy left behind by the glory days of /atheist. With this bias in mind, I do still think this presents a compelling basis for further research on the religious affiliations of LGBT people.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS 465/467

https://imgur.com/vcrZae3
This one actually didn’t require much fucking with, so I’ve just presented the gently simplified data.
Other responses
  • In a queer-platonic relationship
  • I walk a lonley road, the only one that i have ever known.
  • I’m not really sure rn
  • It’s complicated
  • In a polyamorous relationship
  • I have a domme
  • Polyamorous
  • On a crash course to divorce :(
Wow we’re a single lot aren’t we
Honestly I think this correlates with the age demographics. If I were a better data analyst I’d go in and confirm this with the data, but I’m not, so I won’t. Knowing that we have a lot of younger people, who are more likely to have either no relationship or a frequently changing/unstable relationship status, this kinda seems about right. It would be interesting though to compare this with relationship data from other LGBT communities. I think we all know the struggles of finding available partners, especially when you are, as the data suggests, in high school or college. It’d be interesting to see if the high rate of single people here is due to a desire to seek out other LGBT people in order to gain a sense of community as well. Maybe LGBT people in a relationship feel they already have enough of a sense of community and belonging and are therefore less likely to seek out LGBT spaces online. That’ll require some good qualitative data tho which is time consuming. Could be really cool tho.

THOUGHTS ON TERFS 463/467

Raw data: https://imgur.com/CQ2hSu4
This was a big question. There’s a lot of write-in responses here, so I’ll go through those.
Simplified data
https://imgur.com/YwNUYsR
Other results, presented without comment
  • accept everyone or get the fuck out
  • Confused
  • Fuck TERFs
  • Fuck TERFs
  • Fuck TERFs
  • Fuck TERFs
  • Fuck TERFs seriously
  • Fuck them with the rustiest rake you can find
  • Hate them
  • [Dislike] However, I do not condone jokes of violence against Terfs
  • I don't even know what that is.
  • I don't know or care what that means
  • I hate them so god damned much even the mention of the word terf makes me wanna punch a *wall then vomit.
  • I have never heard of this
  • I have no idea who they are
  • Idk bout them
  • liquidate them
  • Never heard of them
  • Not sure exactly what that means but if I understand it right I dislike them because I support transgender people
  • punch them
  • strongly dislike is not enough
  • [just a transphobic pro-terf comment]
  • strongly dislike isn't strong enough.
  • TERF is a slur lol
  • terfs r trash
  • They can go to hell
  • They have no place
  • Too little experience with them to form a meaningful opinion
  • we should set them on fire
  • trans rights babey
I think this is a pretty conclusive result. Of the 29 “other” responses, 20 of them indicate Dislike to Strongly Dislike. 5 respondents said Strongly Like, and 1 said Like. These respondents were the only ones who also put in positive “other” responses. 82% of responses were Strongly Dislike.
This is honestly going to inform my moderation style. I always remove outwardly transphobic comments, especially if they mirror the “rational people” comment in the responses above. However, seeing such a strong dislike of TERFs will likely mean I’ll remove more comments that are gently TERFy but not as explicit.
I do want to reiterate, this is a feminist space. I personally am a strong feminist. I hold some more radical feminist views. I also believe trans women are women, they have a place in the feminist movement, and in women’s spaces. You can absolutely be a trans INCLUSIVE radical feminist. Feminism is almost useless without intersectionality. Trans people are valid and welcomed here. Transphobia will never be tolerated here. Not up for debate.

THOUGHTS ON TRANSMEDICALISTS 460/467

Raw data:
https://imgur.com/rWZFUBp
Again, lots of write in responses. Same script as last time
Simplified data:

Other results
  • At first glance, this notion makes sense to me, but I know to little about the issue to form a meaningful opinion
  • Dissagree w/ but not dislike as people
  • Don't know whether they're right or wrong since I'm not trans therefore can't confirm shit
  • Fuck truscum
  • Fuck truscum.
  • I can understand where they're coming from, but i think it's a harmful ideology all the same
  • I don't agree transition is necessary, since sometimes staying in the closet is the only way to survive. But dysphoria of some kind is necessary.
  • I don't understand how people can be trans if they've never experienced Dysphoria. Not being a dick, i just can't find an explaination.
  • I get where they're coming from
  • I have no opinion. If somebody says they're trans, all i want are their preferred pronouns.
  • I haven't heard about this before, I'd have to read up on it before giving an opinion!
  • I just need to shout about the exclusionary nature of the stance
  • I think dysphoria is necessary, but not medically transitioning
  • I’d err on the side of caution because it sounds like it could be ehhh. I don’t know enough about *the trans part of the LGBT+ community to properly answer this one
  • I’m not sure about them yet
  • It isnt nessacsry but many people do experience it
  • N/A
  • Neutral as long as they aren’t excessively pushy or rude about it.
  • New to this concept tbh
  • No opinion
  • Non-binary trans is still trans.
  • Not enough reading or research done on my part to have an informed opinion
  • Not familiar with this topic enough to say
  • punch them too
  • Therapists should treat it
  • There is background to their points but their attitude stunts progress for all trans people
  • they're very flammable too
  • trans people are trans regardless of what gender affirmations, if any, they choose to undergo. ❤️
  • trans rights babey
  • uncle terfs, more or less.
  • Unknown
  • wanting to be a different gender = gender dysphoria, so 90% of the time transmedicalism is just *pointless gatekeeping
This is the one I definitely needed trans people’s opinions on. I am cis-ish (androgynous butchy lesbian who occasionally likes a cheeky they/them pronoun but is for all intents and purposes a woman/dyke) and so feel entirely unqualified to weigh in and decide which side of the issue is “correct”.
  • 56.2% of responses indicate either Dislike or Strongly Dislike transmedicalists
  • Of the “other” responses, 15/29 indicate a dislike or disagreement with transmedicalist ideology
  • There is a large amount of “neutral” or “no opinion” responses. I can assume a lot of these are from cis people who, like me, feel unqualified to weigh in.
This is also likely to inform my moderation style somewhat. Again, I always remove blatant transphobia when I see it, and this includes anybody stating that nonbinary people are not valid, not real, etc. From these results, I’m going to assume this is the right move, and continue with this strategy.
I personally lean towards not believing in transmedicalism. Some of this may very well stem from my feminist views, but I generally think gender is extremely fluid, and that labels are only worth what the individual believes they represent. If any of you have an understanding of sociology, I tend towards a Weberian/symbolic interactionist approach towards labels in general. Therefore I believe whatever a person identifies as is probably the right identity for them, regardless of what I may think of it. This isn’t necessarily relevant to your understanding of the survey, but it may be relevant to your understanding of my moderation actions.
That wraps up this section! This was a long one, thanks for sticking with us <3

ME_IRLGBT OPINIONS

THOUGHTS ON THE SUBREDDIT 457/467

https://imgur.com/VUwfXtq
Finally, some data i don’t need to fuck around with. Note to self, do more ratings like this.
Obviously as a mod I’m happy to see that opinions trend above 5 here. The average score we’re getting here is 7.87 (2dp) and honestly, I’m down. If that was a movie on IMDB, that shit would be a pretty well-received movie. The most frequent response here is 8/10, and most responses are between 7-10, which tells me people generally enjoy hanging out here. I know there’s always a strong chance for bias here, because the people who are likely to respond to a kinda long survey for a subreddit are likely to be people who either really enjoy it, or really don’t. However, even with that bias, I’m gonna just take the W if that’s cool with you.

THOUGHTS ON MODERATION 445/467

https://imgur.com/pmkKyuC
Slightly lower trend than overall subreddit opinions, but the average is almost the same at 7.73 (2dp).
Since sending out this survey I have made some slight tweaks to my moderation style, as well as making some additions to the automoderator. We’ll chat about that later. I’m glad the overall trend here is positive though; I don’t want this to be a place where you all just end up resenting me.

DO WE NEED MORE MODS? 428/467

https://imgur.com/gwZuKtM
Other responses:
  • 🤷
  • don’t care
  • I don't know. I'm new to Reddit
  • i dont have a reddit account, and i very rarely check comments. I dont think i'm the best person to answer this.
  • I dont pay attention enough to say
  • I just discovered this subreddit like yesterday so I don't really know
  • I think we need mods who do more than just let people police the sub themselves. We may only need a new mod if the current mods don’t change how they mod. Respond to reports is what I’m saying (I don’t see almost any removed comments ever)
  • Idk
  • idk i just enjoy the memes
  • idk im just lurking here
  • Idk. How many moderators do you have?
  • if they're good moderators
  • maybe? i think a little more mod participation would be cool. just seeing admins in comments laughing and joking along with us, and sharing in the memes. i enjoy the hands-off approach but that doesn't mean i don't ever wanna see more mods chilling out and sorta like.,..... making their presence known and joining in on the fun!!! yknow it makes it feel safer
  • no idea tbh but it seems to be running ok
So the general answer here is that we maybe need more mods. Far more people said no than said yes.
Personal interpretation is that people may have felt more comfortable answering “maybe” than answering “yes”. I know that having one active mod for a 90k subreddit is not usual, and by now most subreddits will have gotten a couple more people in. I won’t speak for parlayv but, if you think i’m hands-off, she’s like, not even got hands. Hands not on this plane. We did create the subreddit together (IIRC I came up with the name and she was like “omg that needs to be a subreddit” and then, all of a sudden, it was) but I’m the one who pretty much runs it. I don’t think she’d take issue with me saying that. She’s too busy playing runescape and smoking weed anyway lmao
So, given the general results, I will look at bringing more mods on. I’ll probably pull from people I know first, and if that doesn’t work, may open up applications later. If this happens you’ll all know about it.
I’ll address some of the comments at the very end. Your concerns are not going unnoticed!

THOUGHTS ON RESEARCHERS 459/467

https://imgur.com/Px4XqGQ
Another very similar score, but this time the most frequent response by far is a 10. Average score is 7.84
This one was kinda important for me. I made the decision to allow researchers to post their surveys here. Full disclosure, when researchers come to me in modmail, my key concern is that they’ve followed all ethical procedures. So far, every single one has been done through a university in an official capacity, which means they have to prove they’ve gone through the ethics of their work and it’s been approved before they can even start researching. Whenever I’ve checked them out they seem completely fine, and I’ve so far not received any complaints, which makes me feel good.
I personally believe research is incredibly important for us to understand ourselves, as well as other people. I’m obviously biased as hell here because I’m a social sciences student but the whole reason I’m interested in this field is the benefits I believe it can bring to us. So if it’s cool with you all, I’m going to take this result as support for research posts. For now I don’t foresee any issues with frequency but we’ll revisit this if that becomes a problem. I’d like to give you all a sincere thank you for your positive reception to these posts <3

SHOULD WE BAN TERFS OR TRANSMEDICALISTS? 461/467

This question specified “regardless of rulebreaking”, meaning should they be banned on sight if they say they identify as either a TERF or a transmedicalist. I also meant if they posted in TERF or transmedicalist subreddits, but I didn’t specify this, so I won’t use that in my analysis of this data.
https://imgur.com/o1fevKC
Other responses
  • Allow them only if they don't say anything transphobic on me_irlgbt
  • ban 'em when they post inflammatory stuff to bait responses
  • allow transmeds to flair their posts/create separate sub
  • only ban Transmedicalists if they’re being dicks about it
  • don't know enough about transmedicalists to say
  • Ban transmedicalists, do not ban TERFs
  • Definitely ban TERFs, I just don't really know much about trans medicalists, so I feel weird making a definitive statement about them.
  • Definitely ban TERFs. I’m neutral on transmedicalists
  • Forum should not be allowed to become a hostile environment. They can easily do that.
  • I don't know the context behind transmedicalists but if they're anything like terfs then yes ban them
  • I think a distinction must be made between hate and ignorance. Obvious hate should naturally be answered with a ban, but rule-breaking content arising from possible ignorance should be met with a removal, private warning and, most importantly, directing the poster toward resources to educate themselves.
  • I think there is more ground to talk with transmedicalists but that I would prefer not to deal with them. TERFs should be banned regardless of circumstance.
  • I’m not sure how i feel about just “banning” people but i disagree with them both
  • if being mean
  • If making people uncomfortable
  • If they are strongly voicing there options, even in other sub, that may be harmful.
  • Keep them on a shorter leash
  • Maybe? Or at least make posting that stuff against the rules
  • No opinion
  • Only ban when breaking rules, but dismissing trans women & gnc/nb trans peeps should be against the rules
  • Only if they are putting forth their beliefs in a way to claim that people are not valid.
  • Still don't know anything about the transmedicalists but ban the terfs
  • TERFs have no rights and should go. Transmedicalists are... Kinda difficult? I used to consider myself trans and sorta get where they're coming from. I think it's just a generational issue? I don't think they should be banned outright, like TERFs should, but it should be made very clear that MeIRLGBT isn't the place to discuss that
  • Yeah, but only if you are sure they are terfs/transmed
  • yes, because they're harmful to trans communities and this subreddit should be safe.
Again, a generally anti-terf attitude, which is expected from previous questions.
Once again, this is mostly to inform my moderation style. I am hesitant to ban people because I don’t want to be seen as a powertripping mod out to get everybody. These results, alongside the other terf/transmed ones, are kind of encouraging me to take a slightly heavier hand than I currently am. Again, some specific responses at the end!

Reposts seem to be a common issue. Could you lot do me a favour and post in the comments what you think are common reposts? I come on and browse the sub but I really rely on things you report to me, so I don’t always see common reposts.
As far as specific content you don’t like, I’m afraid that’s gonna be a self-directed thing for yall. Downvote the non-rulebreaking content you don’t like and hopefully people will get the message!
Lol @ the one person who said less surveys. Ur in one. Cant stop wont stop x

Imagine being sega. Can’t relate
Perhaps a link in the side bar we can click to escape the subreddit, especially on mobile if possible.
Honestly not a bad idea. I’ll look into this.
Please just add the QA to the name. It’s 2 letters
I’m sorry, i can’t change the subreddit name. I’ll add it to the sidebar tho <3
Sexual attraction is bourgeois
Idk what this means but it is now one of the central tenets of my faith
Thanks for all the “other” options
You’re welcome it made like, 100x more work for me, but i kinda like that we have a smidge of qualitative data alongside all the quantitative shit.
Thanks for letting me participate despite my non LGBT status
Thanks for being chill!
You people need to calm down. I can sense that this energy primarily comes from North America, so I will explain. The level of discrimination and the lack of basic human rights are so extreme, people cannot stand it anymore even if they are not fully aware of these subconscious vibes, so they need to pull extremely in the other direction to make up for this. And hence you have this kind of subculture that emerges as result. The problem is that, you people are as bad as the other end of the problem because you're as extreme, and it translates into over the top aggression and people so insanely touchy they see an attack in absolutely everything, even if they are not being attacked. Become aware of these energies, and chill.
Gurl are you like okay? Do you need a lie down? Some fruit snacks? Everything okay at home?

ADDRESSING COMMENTS

“I think we need mods who do more than just let people police the sub themselves. We may only need a new mod if the current mods don’t change how they mod. Respond to reports is what I’m saying (I don’t see almost any removed comments ever)”
I’m gonna hold my hands up here, I have generally sucked ass at this. I rely almost completely on you lot reporting things to me, but for the longest time I had a big ol mod queue that was just overwhelming to look at. I’ve made changes to this in the past few weeks, including
*expanding automod scripts. Automod now deletes certain slurs automatically, as well as any comment that might be mentioning or encouraging suicide. This is a big help because obviously trolls will rely on their old faithful slurs. I was hesitant to do this because I think we all have a right to slur reclamation, but I think the benefits outweigh that right now. *I got a fancy new mod plugin! It’s called toolbox, and basically just tells me whenever a new post is made so I can approve it or not, and it tells me when I have new reports. It’s made the whole experience less stressful *I spent a day addressing all the shit in the queue. The subreddit used to be like, full anarchy, so there were reports going back 2 years. Again, I take responsibility for that. I’ve been a shitty mod and I am addressing that.
I hope these changes help address those concerns.
” i think a little more mod participation would be cool. just seeing admins in comments laughing and joking along with us, and sharing in the memes”
I’ve honestly been thinking about this comment for a while. I try to avoid posting here because, again, I’ve seen a lot of criticism of mods who participate too much in their own subs, especially when they distinguish their posts. I don’t wanna look like a dick, yknow? But I like this comment and I’m gonna try and just hang out with you lot more <3
Mod posts for awareness days (ie bisexuality awareness, TDOR, etc)
I kinda think this idea slaps. Does anybody have a calendar of important LGBT dates? I think we could tie this into the other comment about challenges for themed memes, where appropriate.
Clarity as to what this neat little subreddit is about
Me_irlgbt is a queer shitposting subreddit. It’s generally for memes and queer fuckery. Not selfies. That’s about it.
Support threads/posts
Okay, so, the reason I’m not going to do this is because I feel that if I post a thread for support, I then have a duty of care to anybody who posts in it. I do not have the capability, time, or knowledge to provide that duty of care, so I feel it would be strongly unethical to do this, regardless of how good the intentions are. I think it’s a well-meaning idea, I just wanted to clarify why I’m personally not comfortable with it.
Not everybody in me_irlgbt is gay. Can we have more inclusivity?
When I use “gay” on this subreddit, especially if I’m referring to the general mass of users, I wholeheartedly mean it in a community way. Like, “we, the gays” as contrapoints once said. You are welcome here. This isn’t the only response along these lines, so I will keep it in mind when making changes.
And we’re done! Holy shit that was a long post. This has taken me 6 days to edit. Again, reiterating from the top, I’m not an adept researchedata analyst, so I’m sure many people could’ve done a MUCH better job looking at these results, but I think this will do for now.
Thank you so much to everybody who responded. It’s been really interesting for me to have a look at this, and pretty cool to get to fuck around with all this data. Thank you ilysm <3

TL;DR

  • The population on this subreddit trends young, mostly 18-24
  • Most people live in the US
  • Most people are white
  • We have slightly more male-identified people than female, but not significantly so.
  • Roughly a quarter of respondents are trans-identified.
  • Most people use she/her or he/him pronouns. Around 18% use they/them, with the rest “other” or neopronouns.
  • About 60% of the people here identify as bisexual or pansexual, 17% lesbian, 16% gay, 17% asexual. These responses do overlap with many people using multiple labels for themselves.
  • mostly high school or college educated, which makes sense with the age demographics
  • overwhelmingly left-leaning politically
  • generally positive feelings towards the subreddit/mods
  • mostly atheist/agnostic religious views
  • 74% of respondents are single/not in a relationship.
  • 88% of respondents do not like TERFs
  • about half of respondents do not like transmedicalists, but 28% are neutral
  • 60% of respondents think we maybe need more mods
  • other responses just need to be read lol

2020.01.08 07:56 RaeSunshineLee Sunshine Lee at Woodstock - yep It's me

I just saw these comments! Just wanted to tell you that, yes, that is me. There are also many photos up of me as a child. I was in the first Chatty Cathy commercial with Maureen McCormick of The Brady Bunch, and I was also a child model for four yearts in the Sears catalog. Look me up on IMDB, full name Rae Sunshine Lee. It has a ton of info, even though it's missing quite few credits. I know, I know, still Uncle Gary's girl...who cares? LOL https://giphy.com/gifs/lee-sunshine-woodstock-aZelnrCiTw6juI ran away from home 3 months before my 14th birthday, and adopted the runaway name of Jennifer Jo Johnson. I hitch hiked to Woodstock, which was in New York. Then I heard a singer sing a song called Jennifer. I had no idea that we were being videoed. Just found this on youtube about 5 years ago! Here it is! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB1pV8zRVaw

2019.11.30 21:39 CNCharger Jar Jar was dead before Phantom Menace

So, I know this one is a sorta dead horse right now, but some new evidence has surfaced, evidence that confirms Jar Jar is not the Bumbling Fool he looks to be. Lets go over some things. This may even be irrefutable evidence that Jar Jar is infact a Sith. Points 1 and 2 have been covered before, so you can skip to 3 and for for new evidence of you like.
1) Jar Jar can be quite persuasive. I don't know about what anyone else would do, but if I ran into Jar Jar and he kept following me around, a lack of force skill would lead me to just not even take his advice on going to the Gungan City. Yeah, the explosions may be a reason to see if this city is real, but this guy almost got me killed by the droid transports, why should I trust this guy? A little weak for ya? How about this next one.
Jar Jar got Tanaka to take the REAL Queen to the Jedi. Now we would think that Padme demanded it, but as we can clearly see throughout the movie, Padme made no demands prior to this. And if you watch Jar Jar while Tanaka says "The Queen Wishes", Jar Jar is seen mouthing in sync with Tanaka. After that whole conversation, Tanaka has this look of "What just happened... I need to take a nap". He also has a bit of a habit of running into the REAL Queen and striking up conversation (except that one time on Couresant he mentions the Gungan Army). He also happened to encourage the existing relation between Anakin and the Queen to get stronger. He tells Anakin the Queen is pretty hot. He seems to know about Anakin's feelings for Padme, and seems to know Padme is the real Queen, as I said before, he keeps running into her. Jar Jar is fully aware that the Queen must be protected, but without the force, he would be fooled into thinking that the decoy was the Queen, like everyobe else.
He also managed to convince the Senate to give the Chancellor Supreme Powers, a senate that is heck bent on having NO Military, and know full well that Palpatine wants the Republic to have a strong unified military, not just militias and planet securities. Now we can say that Jar Jar was being used as a vessel by Palpatine, but we know he is incapable of just that. He did not forsee the Jedi going to the Trade Federation Blockade surrounding Naboo as diplomats in Phantom Menace. He acted in panic, and rushed the Naboo invasion, which, while formidable, was probably one of the reasons why they didn't secure Naboo. Also, its pretty hard to go from Banished to General is just a few days. What is that, did you say "Napoleon"? He worked his rear off to get to general, and he didn't start as Banished, and it took him a few years atleast. Jar Jar did nothing but mention the Gungan Army. Infact, he could have mentioned the Gungan Army while they were still on Naboo in the first place after they rescued tge Queen, and Palpatine would not control both the CIS and Republic. Jar Jar needed force sensativity to achieve that feat.
2) Jar Jar has force capabilities beyond Mental. This should be short. Jar Jar can achieve impossible apex air time. Yeah, he can jump high cause of his frog like legs, but can a frog really stay at the apex of his jump for 1 or 2 seconds like Jar Jar? NO!!! That would be impossible. Yeah, your upward velocity slows down then turns into a down ward velocity as you reach and leave Apex, but 1 or 2 whole seconds is cartoon physics. Only Jedi (or force sensitive beings) can pull that off. To further back this up, when Jar Har fell from the skybridge in Theed, he landed opposite from where he fell. CGI mistake, maybe if two droids weren't tracking his fall. Swing his arms? Jar Jar is way too heavy to get that far from that lack of height. Maybe his arms are strong, but there is no way you can have that much strength without force sensitivity.
Also, he is really lucky in battle situations. But Obiwan says there is no such thing as luck. He relied on luck zilch times. Jar Jar's luck looks more like Drunken Fist. A little weak? Try explaing Jar Jar's perfect shots while that droid was around his ankle. One perfect shot, maybe dumb luck. Two, maybe luck, maybe him figuring it out after 2 of 2 perfect shots (suspicion arises). THREE? Something is up. Dumb Luck can't get you that far. 3 for 3. And I think he pulled a few more before failing. Plus, he managed to hit a droideka he didn't even see before it pulled up it's shield. It unfurled, but wasn't able to pull up it's shield quite yet. And Jar Jar didn't even see it. Only INTENTIONAL shots can do that.
3) Jar Jar slips up. I read this line that Jar Jar said and compared it to what I heard, and got this. "My afraid My've been Banished. My Forgotten." "My Friend and I've been Banished. If I go back..."
The top one was the line according to IMDB, and it sounds like he said that, but so does the bottom line, what I hear. Why did he forget, but then suddenly remember right as Qui Gon asks? Maybe this was what the line was suppose to be. But why bring up the Gungan city if you have been banished. Last place yiu want to go to. Regardless, here is another thing. JAR JAR NEVER SAYS MY. Every other time he says something like this, he says Meesa. ALL GUNGANS SAY MEESA. It is used both possesively and refering to self. There is no My or I. NEVER. So Jar Jar slips up. If this were a mistake, they would redo those few seconds of voice recording and adjust the CGI to correct it. But Nope, this was no mistake. Plus, if he actually said the second line, he had a friend that got banished with him. Where is he? Regardless, this shows Jar Jar is not a gungan. Infact, he may not even be the real Jar Jar. The real Jar Jar may even not have been a bumbling fool at all. This guy is a powerful shapeshifter, or a sith using the force as a veil. Jar Jar's attacker probably saw Jar Jar and thought that all Gungans were bumbling idiots.
4) Naboo should not exist. Naboo is a planet with a core of water. No solid material to hold the water core together. Plus, even if that was possible, Naboo would be a frozen planet like Hoth. There may be tectonics becsuse the plates are on water, but that would be even worse than lava because water would make the plates EXTREMELY unstable, and flooding would be constant because Water is FAR more viscus than magma. And that is if Naboo isn't mostly frozen because of lack of heat from the lack of magma. And life should be practically impossible or cold version of Tatooine like because magma provides nutrition for plants and greenery. Not to say magma and solid rock are different, but volcanic ash provides alot of nutrition for plants, and it's renewed in eruptions, otherwise you have to manually refertilize it yourself. Those grassy plains that cover the planet are impossible to refertilize manually. Naboo was created by an ANCIENT force wielder. A Powerful one. What if Jar Jar, (or the guy pretending to be him), created Naboo? You can say leaving Naboo would result in it's destruction, but if your that powerful, you can leave the planet and not worry about it because it will do just fine. You die, your essence is powerful enough to keep Naboo together and functioning as a beautiful planet. I am not saying Jar Jar is Plageus, but rather someone much more ancient. Someone who existed before the Republic. Plageus was a 1000 years before Phantom Menace, but the Republic has been around for a few millenia. So this guy is even older than Plageus.
In conclusion, given the evidence, Jar Jar having the force, his verbal slip up that only happened once, and Naboo's questionable existance make it pretty clear that Jar Jar is not who we thought he was, figuratively and literally. But hey, that's just a speculation, an educated guess. Thanks for reading.

2019.11.18 11:54 disparrowfilms LET'S TALK ABOUT "DIVERSITY" - Mostly BRITISH FILM INDUSTRY

I just want to ask and see what most filmmakers here think about "diversity" in the acting industry, especially UK. Maybe there are some Directors, Writers, CD and Producers on here, so maybe you got the smart answer.
Couple years ago I met a talent manager in L.A. representing a lot of regular actors on hit shows in the US.
When I asked him about making it in "Hollywood" his response was "if you're a white, straight male, forget it"
I am all pro diversity, it is refreshing to see real Indian, African, European, LGBTQ actors in Hollywood. But, then it got me thinking... How about British films and TV? How come when it comes to "diversity" here in the UK the diversity includes mostly British actors of colour? There are only couple actors on British TV born in India, Africa, Asia ext... Who were raised here and studied here and the rest who live in the UK for few years - they're not British enough to play Indian/African ect...? Does the "diversity" in the UK only includes those who were born here or went to school here? There are 2 other things I myself am a gay "actor" (cast me now!) so... Does that mean that I need to walk into room with "Hi Im Lukas and I am a gay actor"? Do I have to put "gay actor" on spotlight and CV to be included in the "diversity"? I once wanted to apply for diversity scholarship, however as a white male the only "diversity" I got is European (which is being totally discriminated) and gay... What do I put "hey I'm gay help me/give me money"? At the auditions. Should I walk into every casting room with floppy hands and pink tight trousers and blush, so it is clear "yup he's gay, let's cast him"? This whole LGBTQ diversity is so... confusing - as a gay person I can say, it is fucking ridiculous (great for trans tho) And the other thing, why diversity in the UK (unlike in Hollywood) doesn't include White Europeans? Why all white European roles go to white British actors? Why can't they give those roles to real European actors? If it is about money and name, in all honesty, I'd rather see Eva Green, Monica Bellucci,Joaquim de Almeida, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Brühl ect... in HBO's Chernobyl than any of the white British cast. I am not saying British production should give British characters to European actors (as that will never happen) but, leave those European characters for European actors?
Thoughts? 🤔

2019.10.14 18:19 MaximilianKohler There was a recent post ranting that "collapse is inevitable because of ignorant, dumb people". This may be the case, but there certainly are significant steps we can take to prevent it. I think we should be focusing as much as possible on prevention. Here are my suggestions.

First you need to understand the factors that contribute to one person being low functioning and another high functioning.
Human health, development, and function is multifactorial: Genetics, epigenetics, microbiome, diet, environmental/industrial pollution, socioeconomic influences, etc..
I have a two step proposal.
  1. First step is to limit the impact of low functioning individuals. https://www.highiqpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/IQ-Bell-Curve.png. Right now society is set up so that society is run by the wealthy and the low functioning majority. This results in these people voting for, and implementing policies that exacerbate the problems instead of fixing them.
  2. Second step is to take actions to raise the level of functioning of the human population. This second part probably takes the most learning for the average person. Most people seem to have a very very poor understanding of human health, development, and function. But I tried to condense it into that one article.

My suggestion for tackling the first step is to implement an IQ test for city, state, and federal representatives.
Having an IQ test to vote seems problematic. Firstly because of how things like that were used in the past to disenfranchise certain populations. And secondly because the problem right now is that not enough people vote, and that results in the wealthy controlling the government and laws.
I think a better solution is (at minimum) an IQ test for anyone running for a government position so that can be factored into people's assessment of them. But possibly that won't be enough and it will be necessary to set an IQ requirement.
This way you don't give the option for dumb people to vote for other dumb people. They only get to choose between two intelligent ones.
Now you could argue that some smart people may be corrupt or sociopathic. Could be. In which case you'd want to require a full psychological evaluation of anyone running for office.
I'm curious if it would be possible to get people like Ibram X. Kendi (who gives an interview here on antiracism, anticapitalism and the eugenicist origins of IQ and SAT tests) to agree on both implementation of this solution, and an appropriate IQ/psych test for it. I would base my argument to people like him off this type of data [1][2].
My position is also based on polling data from Australia which showed that a political group who is in the vast minority in most countries is the most intelligent, and largest (percentage-wise) supporters of evidence-based policy, and holders of evidence-based beliefs. An IQ test requirement like this should boost the influence of that party and its supporters. This completely coincides with the IQ graph I linked earlier.

My suggestions for tackling the second step by making people smarter are in this document. It's doable via a variety of biological and societal interventions.
The problem again is that it's low functioning people preventing us from implementing these fixes. Possibly if enough intelligent people understand and agree on these fixes and be vocal enough about implementing them we could get it done.
In my opinion, Fecal Microbiota Transplants (FMT) are one of the most promising aspects of this second step. One problem is the people who qualify to be donors are fewer than 0.1% of the population. You can read more about the current status in /fecaltransplant. If you have the ability to influence or fund clinical trials, read this and this.
As is, with the health of the population rapidly declining, I feel like I'm living in Idiocracy, and surely collapse will be inevitable if nothing is changed.

How well do we think Euphoria's cast members do in their Hollywood careers?!

https://i.redd.it/re0qztqy1gj31.jpg
I thought this might be good discussion so I'm hoping for a hit thread. I think Euphoria is an amazing showcase for all of its actors, some of who are very new to Hollywood and some who already have experience.
I'll start with JACOB ELORDI. Do we all agree that Jacob is gorgeous and an amazing talent? I think he did incredible work on the show and I have enormous affection for him (like I do for literally the entire cast).
I am so curious how his acting career will turn out. Even with good looks and acting chops Hollywood can still be quite tough and there's sooooo many good-looking talented white guys in Hollywood. He'll need a good agent and he will need to make the right choices in projects. Seems like he's on the right path so far. I understand why he did the Kissing Booth because he was just starting out. Kissing Booth was pretty awful with its absurd plot and trite writing but it made bank and that matters. The fact that he was able to follow that up with such a juicy role in Euphoria, which has so much buzz and a lot of critical acclaim - it's really impressive. The other movies on his IMDB looks like straight-to-DVD type stuff but that's OK because he is in the earliest stages of his career. I am so curious how he will capitalize on Euphoria, whether he focuses on TV or films, how much he leans into the "hunk" thing, etc.
HUNTER SCHAFER & BARBIE FERREIRA
While these girls are very new to Hollywood, they've already established themselves other creative industries, mainly fashion and media. I love them both so much and they are incredibly appealing. They both inhabit their roles on Euphoria completely. But I think they will have challenges building their acting careers in Hollywood and I'm curious how they will navigate them.
With Hunter, of course, the issue is her being trans. Sure, Hollywood is changing and incrementally becoming more inclusive of the LGBT community on screen (LGBT individuals have always operated behind the scenes throughout Hollywood). Pose is important and a watershed moment but I know trans actors still have trouble not being pigeonholed by casting directors, if they're even seen at all. It will be interesting to see how committed Hunter is to the acting game. Will casting directors see her for cis roles? The nice thing for Hunter is that she is a true artist and a model so she has so many other creative ventures to potentially pursue or fall back on.
Barbie is a gorgeous talent, but I think Hollywood is still a challenge for bigger actresses. From everything I've seen from her in interviews, Barbie won't be interested in "stereotypical" roles reserved for bigger actresses. I'm super curious about the choices Barbie will make in the future. Thankfully, she's bold and confident and media savvy. Like Hunter, acting might be just one a few different routes she'll pursue within entertainment.
ZENDAYA
I actually don't have much to say for Z. She already was a big name and she's been in several hit movies. I think it was a stroke of genius and very good timing for her to book Euphoria as it's signalling her arrival as a mature actress brilliantly. It's pretty evident to me she has a great agent and the talent to go far. Looking at her IMDB page, she's got great roles in some exciting projects coming up with excellent directors and co-stars (e.g. Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve and co-starting Timothee Chalamet). She is a POC which always comes with challenges in Hollywood, but she is also beautiful and super charismatic so I feel like she is going to keep doing well.
I hope y'all with join in on the discussion!!! We can still speculate about ANGUS CLOUD (so good as Fez, but he will have trouble not being typecasted as the "urban white guy") and maybe ALEXA DEMIE (she's been working for a few years already). I didn't bother speculating about SYDNEY SWEENEY because she was doing well in Hollywood before Euphoria (you could probably say the same thing for ALGEE SMITH).
Of course, we can't forget STORM REID and MAUDE APATOW.

2019.07.25 01:44 qwertycoder Boris Johnson, the road too Mandalay and the kerfufflery of the universe

So Boris Johnson is the new Prime Minister of the UK. And I found that absolutely shocking. I haven't heard of the man until late 2017. and not for any reasons you might expect.
https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2017/10/burma-kipling-and-boris-the-anatomy-of-a-non-scandal/
This article was posted 10-1-2017 at 4:55 PM and it details the “Gaffe” that Boris made while visiting Myanmar. Apparently people took offense to him reciting quotes from the poem by Rudyard Kipling “The Road To Mandalay”
5 hours after this article was posted there was a massive shooting at the Mandalay Bay Hotel half a world away in Las Vegas.
This article also references VJ 70th anniversary... of which I only know of because of the same line of research.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mRt50wyaLg
Here you have Charles Dance reciting the Road to Mandalay exactly 777 days before the event which would take place in VEGAS! He is doing this on the 70th anniversary of Victory in Japan day and at this time he is playing The Hand Of the king of the SEVEN kingdoms of HBO's Game of Thrones
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/winning-streak---lightning-strikes-3839229
This picture was put online 7-10-2014 exactly 2 years 2 months and 22 days before the Mandalay shooting. None of these facts don't MEAN anything.... but they certainly seem “well organized” and one might say “Illuminati” but in my seeking and diving into rabbit holes it does seem there are secrets and things hidden from us, but I think we may be witness the effect of something else.

There is not a lot of people talking about this type of thing, the way coincidence and the makeup of reality-seems, at times... made up.... like too organized..... but the way these rabbit holes the universe leads me down unfold shows that it HAS to be something greater than a conspiracy of men organizing and timing all the little things.

Ive shared some “Days between dates” calculations here as they have been very potent and reveling in my travels through reality. The other aspect of measure that yields stunning organized results is Distances between places. And since the announcement of Boris Johnson as PM it was like a cue from the universe to dive back into the information I had previously gathered and experienced.
This triggered a truly fascinating synchronicity that will require a bit further context.

https://www.reddit.com/JustSyncIntuit/comments/9z2tup/speed_of_sound_6666_knots12345kph_temple_mount_of/
If you start here you will find a collection of some of the more mind blowing syncs that have shown themselves to be organized in a particular way.
https://imgur.com/F3zCiRw
This particular data set is applicable in the research of the day.

Not only does this show 3 separate measurements between starkly unique and different sets of buildings. But it shows synchronicity encoded directly in the conversion of Nautical miles too Kilometers.

The key data point here is the 6666 Nautical miles from the Pyramid of Giza too the Temple of the plumed serpent in Mexico.
https://www.reddit.com/JustSyncIntuit/comments/9z2w76/shake_the_spear_wont_you_dear_in_progress/
I had made a peculiar discovery in the midst of researching Shakespeare synchronicitys (*FROM THE LINK*) “I checked Richat structure /Great pyramids Nothing stood out. I tried the Richat Structure/Temple of the plumed serpent:Mexico and still nothing stood out.....Third time is a charm though, right?
South pole Antartica/ Richat Structure= 6,664.28 Nautical miles to the center 6,669.09 Nautical miles to the outer edge 6664.28+6669.09= 13333.37
13333.37 divided by 2 to find the average distance =6666.685 Nautical miles
6,666 NM = 12345.432 KM Which is something I have seen before..... and is staring us in the face.
https://imgur.com/F3zCiRw
The Temple to the Plumed Serpent/Great Pyramid of Giza = 6,666 NM/ 12345.432KM= Richat Structure/South pole
The first 2 items I compared to the Richat Structure were equivalent in distance when compared to the South pole.
https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/6kxc38/just_the_facts_maam_a_series_of_data_points_that/
A nice call back from the universe which needless to say, amplified both the findings of distances and geomancy, but also the significance of the Richat structure and specifically the point that 6,666NM= 12345.432KM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHiad18ZwcY&feature=youtu.bew
“ So seeing that the distance between the 2 pyramids is the same as the distance from the Richart structure to Antarctica is absolutely identical got me curious so back when I was doing this research I made a circle going all the way around the earth at 6666 nautical miles.
TODAY I heard about Johnson and the idea popped into my head... “You never checked the distance between the temple in Mandalay and the Mandalay Bay Hotel”

So I pop on google earth and search for “MANDALAY TEMPLE” It flys me over and zooms me in and what I see is confusing.
A damn it all that imgur has decided to stop working so its not allowing me to upload m screenshots.

What I saw was the word MANDALAY underlined in RED. That RED line was a previous line that I had measured and saved. I then zoomed into the temple complex and found a temple completely perfectly bisected by the line.
http://bagan.travelmyanmar.net/shwegugyi-temple.htm Here is the temple aligned to the line.
So this line that crosses the temple also intersects the Heart of Africa(richart structure.) because they are points 6666 nautical miles from the South Pole

This line is also 33 miles from Chichen Itza
The fact that the place I was looking for was already highlighted by a line I had previously made was a stunning find. You might think that I have a bunch of lines here............ I have SIX lines ONLY and all of those lines are lines pertaining to distances that relate to the 666 12345 sequence.

Too recap I saw that Boris Johnson became PM of the UK and that reminded me of the whole Mandalay synchweb. I then searched for a SINGLE distance calculation and in the process of seeking the points I noticed that the point I was led too was already highlighted by a previous data point.
This may seem complicated and im sure I lost some people by this point. This next portion is even harder to explain and transmit the high level of synchronicity that has taken place today.
https://www.reddit.com/NeverBeGameOve
I have been diving into the research into the new Hideo Kojima game Death Stranding. This seems to be more than a game.... I suppose everything seems to be more than It is the more you look into things. The following is a post I made on Metal gear solid 2 and the syncs regarding 9-11 and the prophetic dialog from the Codec Conversations.
https://www.reddit.com/conspiracy/comments/6rg6dz/metal_gear_solid_2_memetics_and_the/
I was sent a video from a friend who was also turned on to this rabbit hole.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=WDTJQEh44dc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xI09kq5BSU&feature=youtu.be&t=
This is a Brazilian perfume company that has either intentionally or cosmically created an ad with elements directly taken from the trailers for death stranding. If you are ready and willing you can dive into this playlist of the most in depth dive into what exactly is going on with the kojima ruse/ PT/silent hills/ metal gear multiverse. It is an endeavor. But if you have the time you will have you mind opened to a lot of various paths and elements of reality.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyP6L3mj2ZY&list=PLplgUZOVN2Th_YCTEazbHVeDwXyzoRmS7
Ok with that set lets go on the sync dive into this perfume commercial.

Who is the actor?
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0763928/?ref_=tt_cl_t10
https://www.reddit.com/NeverBeGameOvecomments/cgrnal/how_come_nobody_posted_this_here_yet/

Reading this post I see someone mentions that he plays Xerxes in 300 and right away that dings to a personal synchronicity.

Context: I have been playing Assassins creed Odyssey for the past 3 weeks I suppose. The assassins creed series as a whole is worth looking into for nuggets of esoteric truth revealing goodies. The element most of interest that stood out was “The Spear of Leonidas”
https://assassinscreed.fandom.com/wiki/Spear_of_Leonidas

This is the first result when you google this.... and The spear of Leonidas is the implement in which Leonidas made a “GOD” bleed. And that bleeding god was played by the same person in the Brazilian perfume ad which had the direct reference to Death Stranding.
Earlier that day I had watched a YouTube video about the God Butcher from the Thor comics
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl0y46u1SA
In this comic series an entity is going around killing all the various GODS of the various universes and then pooling their blood into a reservoir to collect it and create a “God Bomb” a device which would destroy all of the gods from the beginning of time.
So Leonidas makes a god bleed with his spear and that GOD is Xerxes and Xerxes is played by the perfume commercial dude from death stranding.
Im going to use this point to pause on this sync train as it has been convoluted and all over the place. I will be continuing if I get time as the train never stops rolling.

If you start here you will find a collection of some of the more mind blowing syncs that have shown themselves to be organized in a particular way.

I have been diving into the research into the new Hideo Kojima game Death Stranding. This seems to be more than a game....

Who is the actor?

So Boris Johnson is the new Prime Minister of the UK. And I found that absolutely shocking. I haven't heard of the man until late 2017. and not for any reasons you might expect.

2019.06.24 21:25 Hugh_Bromont Side Character Spotlight: Connie Riesler

During the course of the show there have been some interesting side characters that crossed paths with the Strike Team.
I'll be making this a series of posts highlighting some of my favorites and discussing not only the character, but the actoactress that played them.
As a note, "side-character" can be a one-off appearance and not necessarily a recurring character.
https://theshield.fandom.com/wiki/Connie_Riesler
Played by:
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1056583/
Connie was one of Vic's informants and while she was a drug addicted prostitute, I thought she was a pretty sympathetic character up until a certain point. Vic looked out for her and she provided him info. Connie was a good character that showed that Vic did have a heart since he was always looking out for her and her son. He helped get her clean and put her on the books as a CI so she could make some money. Connie's a bit of a tragic character since her helping Vic out is what ultimately led to her demise.
What did ya'll think of Connie Riesler?

2019.06.04 22:05 SpamMan53 Series Rewatch ‘In Camelot’ (S5, Ep7)

Episode seven begins with Tony and Janice reconciling after their free for all from episode three. Little brother hastens to hold his tongue as Harpo’s mother relates her approach to parenting. At a funeral for an aunt of his Tony runs into one of Johnny Boy’s goomars while paying his respects to the old man’s grave. The elderly moll’s eccentricities aside I did find it a little surprising that Tony would blanche at his uncle’s ‘after party’ comment the way he did. It’s not like Junior has been anything less than a geriatric adolescent since the start of the show.
In therapy Melfi in turn suggests a certain attraction when her patient explains how Fran is old enough to be his muddah. It’s a diagnosis that’s uncomfortably as seemingly close to the mark as Melfi’s standard... uh, position re T and his mother. After an NA meeting Christopher and his West Coast connected friend have a late night meal with the Nose becoming suspicious of his sober buddy’s wherewithal. Took me til this rewatch to catch Chris’ throway line about ‘having some wine’ after his fiancé’s accident. The part about shooting up a strip club and nearly being buried in a field isn’t necessarily civilian talk, I guess. Later, after his being outwardly relieved that his man is still clean AA’s LCN makes him an offer that’s beyond reproach (I’m paraphrasing a famous quote here).
During a very weird meeting with the woman who used to schtup his dad Tony learns the fate of the Soprano family dog while tapering over a possible bombshell. Felstein later let's slip to Tony that Phil Leotardo and Hesh kept a piece of a dog track racket from her that she’d been promised by Johnny. Her incredulous response to Junior’s interpretation of events is as hilarious as it is obvious. Tony requests a sit down with both men where the Shah initially balks at compensation. Johnny Sack’s diplomatic little smirk at Phil’s outright dismissal of Jersey as a gangland power is such a clear cut example of both men’s acumen. Again, this whole situation goes from zero to oobatz in the blink of an eye. The flask fueled road trip, TMI JFK anecdotes... and people say S1 is cringey.
Christopher introduces his sober brother to some higher stakes than what he’s used to. It’s a curious move all the more when you think an addictive personality like him would know better than to introduce a fellow junkie into that kind of environment. And he does. The parallel between Tony S. having a mini fortune chucked at his cousin’s feet and Christopher allowing JT to get into him for sixty boxes of ziti is less coincidence than meets the eye. I’m not saying Blundetto and ‘Joe Hollywood’ aren’t responsible for their respective downfalls. They are and that’s the point. T and his little nephew’s shared addiction is misery and collapsing those around them within it.
Tony makes good on Fran’s cut. Junior succeeds in being a more obvious misery merchant than his two nephews before succumbing to reality. Watching uncle Jun literally feast on other's sadness is probably one of the series’ most well earned literal representations. Not for nothing it’s also hilarious. ‘What’s the fuckin’ point ?!’ Back way across bronze plated gangland Dolan trades his laptop before checking back into rehab. ‘There’s no chemical solution to a spiritual problem,’ said one of society’s problems.
Tony delivers his less and less appealing new acquaintance her hundred and fifty K. If ever there was a more literal representation of the misappropriated nostalgia Tony saddles himself with it's the unfortunateness that is this display. Yikes. In therapy Tony relates a triggered memory notable for the role reversal of who’s being worn down to a nub. Despite her protestations Tony continually refuses to acclimate his treatment to include Johnny Boy’s obviously heavy role in his development.
It’s a jarring recollection, one that if anything is little more than a shred of a fuller picture. I don’t pretend to think that this particular bit of deception is what would later fuel Livia’s bitterly mercenary campaign against her son. If anything it’s a window into how the beleaguered housewife learned to see Tony as the conduit for her unspoken rage re her neglectful husband. Of course, a lot of this is conjecture. The potency of Livia’s darkness is as powerful as it is because of how it lacks concrete definition.
Junior surrenders to his own feelings of mortality while his nephew makes a lock of his own defeat.
